The Beertija

This is the latest bar/club to open in Rijeka. Rijeka's young peple received it like a breath of fresh air, anxious to get the new place where they can go out. And Beertija is a great place for a number of reasons:

1. It is, more than anything else, a place dedicated to beer. In this bar, you can choose among more than 120 types of beer, from ales, light beers, strong dark beers to fruit flavouted ones, from Croatian beers to the ones imported from the UK or Belgium. Even if you are not a great beer fan, you might get excited choosing randomly those with the strangest name, and waiting to see what you will get. The only problem might be the fact that it is so hard to choose, which often causes strange situations in which the waiter has to wait too long for you to read through the entire list and make a final (difficult) choice.

2. Beertija is a wonderfully decorated bar. It has crystal chandeliers, a piano turned upside down and heating pipes hanging from the ceiling. It has wooden bar stools and cozy sofas. It has a cover of Joy Division's album decorating the bar. It has swings instead of chairs on the terrace. And it has cool, funny waiters who only hate when you ask them: "what beers do you offer".
3. It has a club in the basement. Since The Beertija just opened, I still haven't had the chance to actually visit it, but the name of the club itself - which is The Club - sounds quite promising. The club started with its fall program consisting of live shows and concerts, all with quite popular prices.
4. So, the beers. I'm not a professional when it comes to them, they usually all taste the same, but the selection here is really amazing. My suggestions are: Pirate beer (10% of alcohol, a very cute bottle and a very special, strong taste; a bit expensive, though) and Kasačko beer (very agreeable price, and quite good taste).
5. And this is the best thing. The Beertija is located very close to the Rijeka Campus, that is, the place where majority of faculties in Rijeka are. That means that you can make it a crucial aspect of your college life: you can mourn every failed exam, celebrate every passed one, treat your friends when you finish your higher education or just spend your time there between two lectures. It's a perfect addendum to any college experience!
6. To sum up, The Beertija rocks. It is a place where you can spend a looot of time enjoying fine beer and having a good time while listening to good music. What more can you wish for?
