Why did you choose to go to Reykjavík, Iceland?
I was looking for an internship when I came across a research group at the university of Iceland. I contacted them and they invited me over. For the next 10 months I did my internship at that lab and fell in love with the nature and the science. So a year later I decided to come back for a master program
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
24 months
What is the student lifestyle like in Reykjavík?
It is quite living I would say, there are plenty things to do for students, such as a lifely nightlife.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Reykjavík to other students?
Yes
What is the food like?
Expensive mostly, and the choice is not as big as anywhere else (like NL for instance), but the quality is good.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Reykjavík?
A lot of time and effort yes.
How much does it cost to live in Reykjavík?
I would say around a €1000.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Definitely not, its a really hard language but still a nice challenge. Luckily almost everybody knows there English
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Reykjavík from your city?
Definitely by plane to Keflavik and from Keflavik you can take a shuttle-bus to Reykjavik
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Reykjavík?
Definitely
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Reykjavík?
Prikið is really nice
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
The whole country it self is amazing, but there are also some nice museums in Reykjavik, like the national museum
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Reykjavík in the future?
