Reykjavik through photos
Reykjavik through photos
Hello again, everyone! Today we are continuing and wrapping things up with the capital of Iceland. I can't go without speaking to you about Reykjavik, or even better, to show you the capital of this country through my photos. I have left it till last because out of all of the places that I visited in Iceland, it is almost the only one that involves urban areas. You already know that Iceland is all about nature. It is a country for adventurers. Saying that, Reykjavik, one of the most expensive cities in Europe and probably in the world, is worth a visit and to have some kind of leading role. This post will be a little different to normal. I will leave the photos that I took the day that I was in Reykjavik, and will tell you a little bit about each one. I hope that you like it. Here they are!
The Hallgrimskirkja.
The church of Reykjavik. One of the main attractions in the capital. Very pretty, calm and comfortable inside.
Souvenir shops, sports clothes shops, mountain shoes, cafes, restaurants, tourist guides, and even fast food stalls, which surprised me a lot.

The houses in Reykjavik
Reykjavik has lots of little colourful houses. One of the most eye-catching ones for me was this one below, because I thought that the black walls with the white borders, the wooden wall and the green vegetation all contrasted together perfectly.
These houses that you are seeing are the most expensive ones in the whole city and probably in the whole country, due to their strategic location and their surroundings.
We ate in a "brunch" restaurant. We had lentil lasagna with vegetables, which was so good. It was a vegetarian restaurant. It had a chilled atmosphere and a nice temperature, a contrast to the temperature in the street.
Another mural in Reykjavik: "days of grey".

The Sun Voyager
This sculpture is an ode to the sun, as it points to the sun when it sets. It is in front of the sea and has a quite strange shape, made of steel. Its shape reminds me of the scene from the film Thor: The Dark World when they had Frigga's funeral. Frigga's body sailed through the sea on a boat very similar to this. I would say that they both were Viking boats, from the shape of their prow and stern.
Faro Grotta
In the suburbs, you can find the Faro Grotta, where you can spend some time relaxing if you are lucky and have good weather. The Faro is found on a kind of "island". From the centre of Reykjavik to where this Faro is, it seems like it makes a headland. We could say that Grotta is situated just at the top of the headland.
And this has been everything. I hope that you have liked these photos. As I've already said, Reykjavik is worth at least a little look around as it has a special charm and at the end of the day it is the capital of the country, what more can I say. Sadly, I left Iceland, but I hope that it isn't for forever, as I would like to come back here again. Thank you for reading and we shall see each other again soon!
