Why did you choose to go to Rethymno, Greece?

As I mostly lived in really big cities, I wanted to experience life in a smaller one. Rethymno, with its beaches, its mountains and its Greek lifestyle seemed a great choice.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I didn't get any scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Rethymno?

I didn't participate much in student activities. As a student with a tight budget, I nevertheless enjoyed being able to visit Crete extensively and eat outside often, as prices are relatively low.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Rethymno to other students?

Yes, absolutely.

What is the food like?

Great, especially the sea food.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Rethymno?

Not really, several hotel offer rooms for students.

How much does it cost to live in Rethymno?

About 700euros per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Language courses are available. Greek is pretty hard, but small sentences can easily be learned and used in everyday life.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Rethymno from your city?

From Paris, flights are not expensive, even in summer.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Rethymno?

In a small taverna in the old town of Rethymno : fish, calamari, tzatsiki, and ouzo of course!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Rethymno?

For special nights: Prima Plora.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The old town is quite nice.
