Experience in Reggio Emilia, Italy by Beatrice
What is it like to live in Reggio Emilia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I was born here and I can say Reggio Emilia is a clean city, safe (low crime), and semi well organised compared to other Italian regions and cities. We have a lot of green spots, a lot of countryside. People are genuine and helpful.
How much does it cost to live in Reggio Emilia?
Medium prices. It's not so expensive since it's not a touristic city.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Emilia's food is the best food in the world, according to lot of Cuisine magazine. You will just fall in love with everything: typical of Reggio are parmigiano reggiano, passatelli, capelletti, tortelli, erbazzone (only city in Italy where you can eat it), lasagne, and all the meat produrrà like ham, mortadella, etc.
What places would you recommend visiting in Reggio Emilia?
All the city center is very characteristic. A lot of foreign people like it even if it's small!
A must is Pietra di Bismantova: if you love quite walks in the nature, you can see a beautiful view of the city and the mountains chain. You have to take a special bus to get there though, like 50 min from the city center.
Is the nightlife good in Reggio Emilia? Where is good to go?
The city center is full of young people; there are a lot of bars or pub where you can drink or just chat with lot of friends (especially in the main squares). This happens in the weekend when it's winter, and almost everyday on summer.
