Experience in Pristina, Kosovo by Sokol
What is it like to live in Pristina? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Pristina is the capital city of Kosovo which is the country with the highest rate of youth in the whole world. More than half of the citizens are youth. You will see mostly new beautiful buildings around the city due to the war which happened in Kosovo. It is not a big city, but it has a lot of love to give.
What is the student lifestyle like in Pristina?
The student lifestyle in Pristina is amazing, people in Pristina (in all Kosovo also) are so friendly and lovely, they are so welcoming and up to help you with anything they can.
The life there is really cheap and they have amazing things to offer.
How much does it cost to live in Pristina?
Well, it depends on the life you like to live, but if you are sharing a flat, then with 300 Euros per month you can have an amazing life.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Pristina? Is there any advice you can give?
Finding accommodation sometimes can be a problem, but it is not that hard to find one. There are public and private dorms, also tons of apartments which you can share with locals and internationals (a lot of them).
There are facebook groups which can help you a lot about living in Prishtina in general, and accommodation such as: Young People of Kosovo, Networking Prishtina but also websites for housing.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food in Kosovo is AMAZING, they have really good traditional foods but also international foods, so you can find yourself easy there.
Their traditional food mostly includes meat, sometimes can be hard to find pork but they have amazing dishes with beef so you won't have the need for pork.
Skenderbeg (with beef or chicken, I prefer chicken) is my fav dish there.
What places would you recommend visiting in Pristina?
Well, that depends on what people want to visit.
If you like walking, jogging, riding a bike, or just enjoy nature you should visit the national Park GERMIA, which is 20mins outside the city, and it is really beautiful.
If you wanna hang out with friends and make new friends you should visit cafeterias in Prishtine (btw they make the most delicious coffee ever) such as: Soma book station, Dit' e Nat, Sonder, Friends Avenue and any other cafeterias there.
The National Museum is also a really good place to go, also the cathedral tower in the city center where u can see the almost whole city from above.
Is it good to eat out in Pristina? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
You should never miss it. Eating out in Prishtina is my favorite thing.
Extrem Pizza is a really good place for fast food and Pizza (amazing pizzas guys).
Pa Pirun (means Without Fork) is a really good place where you can eat only with your hands, as the name tells, no forks lol .
If you feel like a healthy person, then you have Green Product, they only serve healthy foods and have really good prices.
There are also Mexican food restaurants, thai, fish houses, basically, you have everything you want.
So if you wanna try the Kosovo traditional food you should visit the restaurant "Safrabezi", u wont be disappointed.
Is the nightlife good in Pristina? Where is good to go?
Uhh, now we talking!!!! Kosovians love to partyyyyyy!!
Night life in Pristina is at the highest peak.
Guys, in Pristina you can find a lot of nightclubs, depends on your taste.
The most famous nightclubs which operate the whole year are ZONE (the biggest), Duplex (in the center of the city), also Rooftop 13 (also in the center).
You also have places who only offer jazz music nights such as Zanzi Bar, Hammam.
The nightlife there usually starts from midnight or 1am and ends in the morning, so u gonna have a lot of fun.
What advice would you give future students heading to Pristina?
Go there, enjoy it.
