Experience in Perpignan, France by Mathilde

What is it like to live in Perpignan? Would you recommend it? How is it?

I personally hate the city of Perpignan, I only like the surrounding areas. Therefore I don't recommend it. It is really boring living there, there isn't a lot to do.

What is the student lifestyle like in Perpignan?

The university keeps developing, so every year there are more students, but it's stayed a bit boring. They organise parties with the other universities but they aren't great.

How much does it cost to live in Perpignan?

Accommodation is quite expensive, it depends on where you want to live but on the other hand, as the Spanish border is quite near, you could go shopping there and it would work out cheaper.

Did you find it hard to find somewhere to live in Perpignan? Do you have any advice?

Not really, there are lots of student residences near to the university, and you can also rent flats in the city-centre if you prefer.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is still French food so obviously it's good!

What places would you recommend visiting in Perpignan?

Mmm... Good question! In Perpignan, there isn't a single pretty thing, but the surrounding areas are very pretty (Collioure, Barcares, Canet en Roussillon, Argeles-Sur-Mer, le Canigou... )! The region is very pretty, you can walk, go to the beach, go to the mountains, there is something there for everyone.

Is it good to eat out in Perpignan? What are some of your favourite places to go?

I love the Ben which is a tapas bar, but also O'Flahertys, these are my two favourite places in the city.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Perpignan?

You can find different clubs (I don't like any of them except sometimes the BBC when it sometimes has good bands and music).

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Perpignan?

Good luck! It's better to have a car to be able to enjoy what you can find outside of the city.
