Experience in Perpignan, France by Isciane

What did you think about living in the city of Perpignan? Do you recommend it? How is the city?

Perpignan is a small sunny and rather quiet city. There are some very beautiful landscapes in the surrounding areas, like in Banyuls or Collioure.

I recommend it because it's a city that's very close to the beach and the mountain, which is an asset. It's also very close to Spain. However, it's a city that isn't very lively for young people because it's not a big student city.

The University of Perpignan is very friendly and there are people from different nationalities. The campus is quite small so it's easy to navigate. On the other hand, I find that there aren't enough student activities.

How is food in the city? What are your favorite dishes?

The food is similar to that of Catalonia because Perpignan is very close. I love serrano ham and manchego as well as good old well garnished salads.

What advice do you want to give to future Erasmus students in Perpignan?

- Don't be afraid to talk to people and get to know them.

- Don't go too far from the centre for accommodation because transportation isn't always reliable.

- Bring sunglasses and a swimsuit for the summer, warm clothes for the winter because of the very strong winds.

- Don't hesitate to take the bus or the train to visit the surroundings.
