Why did you choose to go to Pau, France?

My university had an agreement with the university in Pau and I thought it would be a good location based on some of the reviews from fellow students.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

Depends on home country i think. For me, coming from Ireland, i received about €2,100 from the Leonardo Da Vinci placement grant.

What is the student lifestyle like in Pau?

Very student friendly city. Lots of Erasmus students also.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Pau to other students?

Definately. Especially the Résidence Gaston Phoebus for on campus accommodation.

What is the food like?

Great food and so many nice restaurants to choose from. Prices quite low too.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Pau?

It was very cheap because, as a student, you are entitled to the CAF while living on-campus.

How much does it cost to live in Pau?

300-400 euros per month although this depends on how much you eat out, socialize etc.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes if you have a good knowledge of French. There are Erasmus -only courses available at the universtiy which help with learning the language and also help you to make friends.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Pau from your city?

From ireland : connecting ryanair flights from Dublin to Stansted to Pau.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Pau?

The Galway or the Garage pub. The Connamara or L'esprit clubs are also student friendly and inexpensive.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Pau?

Too many to choose from! There are lots near the main square that are reasonably priced and offer a good variety of French cuisine.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Pau castle is great and is free on certain Sundays every month.
