What is it like to live in Palermo? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Palermo is a wonderful city rich in art and culture. It is a city next to the sea. Walking in the street you can admire the churches, theaters, ancient buildings, local markets full of attractions and huge squares. Palermo is very beautiful, but unfortunately it is not valued by the people and the country.

Universities in palermo are very good, they offer many studies, especially in the law school. The problem is that once you get graduated it is hard to find a job.

It depends on the area. Some areas of Palermo are very chic and expensive but some are affordable. You can find everything.

It is not difficult. In areas near the university, they rent many houses and student rooms. Ther are ads on the sites or they are directly hang on the bulletin board of the university.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Italy is very famous for its cuisine. Italian food is absolutely the best in the world. In palermo, everythiing you eat tastes very, very well. There is the typical pizza, cakes with cottage cheese, the sandwich with the spleen, potatoes and much more. I love italian food!

What places would you recommend visiting in Palermo?

Palermo is very architectural, all the streets are full of ancient palaces, churches and fountains. You have to visit the center, the cathedral and the market of "Ballarò".

Is it good to eat out in Palermo? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Of course! In the city, there are always open pizzerias and restaurants. All they are very good. But be careful, however, because restaurateurs take advantage of foreigners by charging more. Carefully read the menu with the prices and your final receipt.

Is the nightlife good in Palermo? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is good, but a little uncomfortable for those who do not have a car. Transport in the evening is not efficient at all. There are many clubs and pubs open all week until late night. Here people go out during the weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Then there is Ballarò, a market during the day, but at night it becomes a real space for the young people and it is full of locals. They have good prices (a beer 1. 50 €).

What advice would you give future students headed to Palermo?

Palermo is a beautiful city, as well as its universities. Just beware not to get teased by Palermo's restaurateurs who take advantage of foreigners by charging them more.
