Why did you choose to go to Palermo, Italy?

I wanted to learn Italian.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship lasted 6 months. I used to receive 300 EUR of university grant and my parents also supported me by some money.

What is the student lifestyle like in Palermo?

A lot of parties, everyday students meet together in the bar "drunks" or at the Ballaro square. Every weekend students go the discos. You never feel alone in Palermo.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Palermo to other students?

I will recommend Palermo because it's a cheap city to live in comparison with other Italian cities. People are very kind, helpful and hospitable.

I studied mathematics at the University of Palermo. There is high education. I had to pass exams as Italian students did and the subjects were very difficult. Finally, I passed all my exams.

What is the food like?

Very tasty! You have to try Sicilian icecream, sfinccione, and pasta.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Palermo?

I used Erasmus organizations to find accommodation.

How much does it cost to live in Palermo?

It depends on how you live. If you stay at home and eat little, 350 EUR it's enough.

If you go out, take part in a lot of parties and travel, you need 500 EUR.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is easy. Yes, there are some courses which are organized by the university.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Palermo from your city?

By plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Palermo?

Vucciria, Ballro, Royal, and Picaro.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Mondello, Scale dei Turcchi, and Cefalu.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Palermo in the future?

Do not hesitate to go to Palermo. It's an amazing city. You won't regret it.
