What is it like to live in Oxford? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

The city is filled with students and so during term time is vibrant and lively. There are different things to do every day and the city is small enough that getting around is never a problem (most places are walkable if need be) but equally is big enough to have a city feel. It's an amazing place to live, almost unique in the world.

What is the student lifestyle like in Oxford?

It can generally be summed up as 'work hard, play hard'. Students will spend all day in the library before heading out in the evening to all kinds of events and parties. There are two universities in Oxford, Oxford University which is situated all over the city centre, and Oxford Brookes which has a campus in the east of the city. Oxford university is made up of 38 different colleges to which each student belongs. This provides a real community feel within the greater community of the university as a whole and many events are put on within colleges. Oxford Brookes is a more usual university with a campus and central facilities.

Most colleges at Oxford University provide accommodation for their students so it's not a problem to find. Oxford Brookes may have accommodation on campus for Erasmus students but if not, there is relatively cheap accommodation in Cowley, an area in the east of the city.

What places would you recommend visiting in Oxford?

There are many museums and theatres which often put on student plays; the amazing architecture in the city centre, seeing the views from the top of St Mary's church, and London is only 45 minutes away by bus (on the London Tube).

Is it good to eat out in Oxford? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Edamame is worth the queue for authentic Japanese food, G&Ds cafes have the best ice cream and cookies, Pierre Victoire for fancy french food, and a whole host of other amazing restaurants.

Park End street is the clubbing centre. Student nights happen all week but the big night out is on Wednesday.

Be prepared to work, but be prepared also to have an amazing time.
