Oxford: Christ Church College

Address: St Aldate's, Oxford OX1 1DP

Christ Church is definitely a must-see!

OXFORD: CHRISTCHURCH COLLEGE

This is basically my friends living in Christ Church being poster-kids for their college.

Christ Church is perhaps one of the most famous (and rightly so) colleges in Oxford (almost all the British Prime Ministers resided in this prestigious college apparently), and while I haven't seen all thirty-something colleges in Oxford, I have to admit, Christ Church is the most impressive-looking colleges I've visited (Cambridge included). It really has that Hogwarts feel to it that makes me wish that I was studying in this college.

This is the great hall from the Harry Potter movies. You can imagine how the HP nerd in me almost died from excitement.

I was lucky enough to be treated to a dinner as a guest at the Christ Church College dinner by my best-pinoy-friend, so I got to experience dining at the "HP great hall" as well. The scampi for starters was quite good (although the promdi/hillbilly/probinsyana in me mistook the scampi for chicken lol).

The main course wasn't that tasty though. Steak was rubbery. But free food so I cant complain.

I mean, damn, look at those paintings. I swear I saw one of them move.

And these are the college dorms. Seriously, the interior design of the rooms were like mind-bogglingly posh. Nice sofa and all. And they get cleaners who come by weekly to tidy up the place too! God, this is Hogwarts indeed.

Also, don't forget to check out the Christ Church meadow adjacent to the college during your visit.

My favourite part of the meadow, besides the random animals like cows and ducks where the punting is going on usually, is the walkway to one of the entrances:

As I was telling some of the other elective students, if I were living in this college for the whole of my course, I would be inspired to study every day amidst all this beautiful buildings and scenery. Seriously. This college and its grounds are just filled with so much tradition and beauty.

Last note: make sure you don't stay inside the meadow too late because I've heard people get locked in when they shut the gates in the evening. So check out the closing times before you go in!
