What is the student lifestyle like in Ostrava?

In the center of Ostrava, there are a lot of faculties, and there is fine lifestyle.

How much does it cost to live in Ostrava?

Prices are fine. Food and beer is very cheap. Beer is about one euro, and we got very good beer (Pilsner Urquel, Radegast, Koníček)!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ostrava? Is there any advice you can give?

About accommodation I have no experience. But, time to time I see some advertisement of accommodation for students in Ostrava. Best location is in the center of Ostrava, but not cheap.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

My favorite dishes is pizza in Colloseum pizzery in Nova Karolina. French food and healthy you can find in "LA petite conversation" it is very cute small caffeplace, with good french food, it is near Stodolni street.

What places would you recommend visiting in Ostrava?

If you visit Ostrava, you must see old area in Vitkovice, it is old factory and it is very monumental. There are many celebrations, festivals, exhibitions.

Is it good to eat out in Ostrava? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I wrote some favorite spots upside. But very cheap and good soup and beer I like it in restaurant Astoria, it is in the center of Ostrava, right on the square Masarykovo.

Is the nightlife good in Ostrava? Where is good to go?

I don't know. Some people prefer party on Stodolni street, but I like to party at home.

What advice would you give future students heading to Ostrava?

Go there, but be prepared that in the winter semester, there is not good weather especially air condition, because of the pollution of the factories around. But you can go on the mountains which are very close. Maybe one hour ago by train. (mountain Smrk, Lysá mountain)
