Footloose and fancy free
Most people hate studying mainly because they associate it with school and let's face it, we all hate going to school. But...
What if your school looked like this?
And no, I don't study in a shopping mall. It's just a little, old regular Norwegian university... (modesty mode on)
It came as a surprise for me to find out that I actually got in at the BI Norwegian Business School at the Bachelor Exchange Program but it didn't cross my mind to look up for some photos of the university itself. (How could I, right?! ) So when someone asked me and I finally did search...it's not hard to imagine the look on my face and the envy on others' faces.
I arrived in Oslo enthuziastic and more than ready to travel, sail, hike and get straight A's!
My first days were overwhelming and everything seemed unreal. So many names to remember, so many forests to get lost in, so many books to read but sadly not so many friendships at least from what my short-term "friendship forecast" let me understand. It seems it's not only the weather which is cold here... (I will get into that in the next post).
There were still a lot to take in and I've never been more eager to try them all out. I hiked, I layed on the grass to count the stars, I explored all the rooms and corridors of the university, I sailed the fjords and studied hard and it was and still is all worth it. And just rememeber... this is only the beginning, my beginning...
But is it really a beginning?
It definitely doesn't feel like it when you leave home and you hear so many goodbyes.
But maybe that's how life works. One new beginning starts when other beginnings end.
It's not easy to just pack your stuff and leave
to a new city, university, dorm room, culture, climate
life
But isn't it harder to stay?
It's not the thing that I got stuck in some place and thought my life is passing me by. It's not always this the reason why people want to leave.
Just open the map that's been lying in your drawer for ages or spin the dusty earth globe on your desk and imagine how much there is yet to be discovered.
Isn't it tempting?
This kind of decisions are the ones that in the long run will shape your future and in the present make the difference between you and the rest of them all. We are the "Mom, I'm leaving" kind of people who have this travel bug inside their heads. And just like regular bugs this one has
wings to fly around the world
eyes to see what matters most,
ears to listen to the sea
little hands to write its story.
Like this one here.
We're all the bug inside our heads...

You see museums where others see just hallways
You see the ocean where others see a lake
You call a road what others call a pathway
You seem to stand when others seem to break
You watch the moon when others watch soap operas
You feel the rain when others run from it
You watch the waves destroy your little castle
And smile
Rebuilding it bigger, more fancy and neat.
You go to bed and pray for happy endings
They smile to you but fail to be your friend
When mornings are for them just old beginnings
Your beginning stops where their beginnings end

You traveler! I am left speechless and you are becoming a storyteller! :x
