It's one of the oldest cities in the Czech Republic. The architecture is nice and it has many parks and sports resorts if you enjoy jogging or moving your body. It's also comfortable here with many shops.

What is the student lifestyle like in Olomouc?

Great. The city is full of students. Cheap dorms, cheap food. Everything within walking distance.

How much does it cost to live in Olomouc?

Monthly:

2700 CZK dorms (you can get a scholarship for dorms of 700 CZK)

2000-3000 CZK is enough for food. More if you visit many restaurants (150-300 food is a restaurant)

Transport is 150 CZK per month

Library and most of the facilities are for free.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Olomouc? Is there any advice you can give?

It's easy. There are over 5000 beds for dorms. Many people also rent and share apartments.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food at the university canteen is diverse from all around the world.

Czech cuisine is especially rich in meat. And we have some nice specialties and I recommend trying everything that sounds unfamiliar because our food is also tasty for people from other countries.

There are also many Vietnamese shops cooking Chinese, Vietnamese and Taiwanese food.

What places would you recommend visiting in Olomouc?

The Zoo, centre of the historical city, basilica, museum...

Is it good to eat out in Olomouc? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Sure it is. In Olomouc, there are many shops that sell you food to take and eat on the way. Great fries with many sauces, spaghetti, burgers... You can in the park and eat to your heart's content.

Is the nightlife good in Olomouc? Where is good to go?

There are many, many, clubs and bars if you enjoy this kind of crazy lifestyle. Some are even adjutant to dorms.

What advice would you give future students heading to Olomouc?

Just come!

We will all welcome you here. Olomouc is friendly and you can find students from the whole world. Young Czech people are also great at English and most of them can speak also another language. The same goes for lectures so you don't have to worry about language barriers.
