Besides the temples and the famous stadium, Olympia also has a museum which we saw (of course).

These small horse figures made from clay, bronze or iron were votive gifts to make the preferred party win. Over all the years, many of them were accumulated.

Here, another figure of a sphinx strengthens the religious character of the site.

To the left, a mythical creature (a mermaid?) is depicted on the shield. To the right, three wings around a Medusa's head form the symbol of Sicily which is still in use today.

A collection of helmets (most of them from the Corinthian type) complete the first part of the museum ... part 2 will follow!
