Student accommodation in Nottingham

Today I received a message from a girl who is going to Nottingham on Erasmus next year, asking me about my residence.

So this gave me the idea of writing a post about accommodation in Nottingham.

The first thing to say is that I'm in Victoria Hall, a student hall with ensuite rooms (own bathroom) and a shared kitchen. There aren't any studios like in other halls but it's central and next to Nottingham Trent University. The price is around 94 pounds a week, more or less and it's one of the cheapest private student halls. Victoria Halls has two buildings. I am in Phase one which is basically characterised by moving in mid September until July and in the Phase two, you move in at the beginning of September and of course, the contract finishes earlier.

Another hall close to here is IQ exchange. It's a bit further out the centre but by much. This hall is quite modern in terms of the decoration. It has ensuite rooms and studios with kitchens too. There are like 10 rooms in a corridor which share a kitchen or a small communal area. The flat's communal area for 4 rooms in Victoria hall is almost bigger than the IQ one for 10. The price is higher.

Glass House is right in the street opposite Victoria Hall next to the ALDI. It's a bit more expensive than Victoria Hall but it's of more of less the same style. The only thing is that the bathrooms are like the ones in caravans.

These are the best known halls in the centre. Then apartment complexes exist. Some have their own pools and gym (quite expensive).

On the other hand, there are rented houses. Most of them are in Lenton which is one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods and it's quite far out the centre.

On the other side of the river, the truth is that I don't know anything so I'm sorry.

Last of all remain the University halls, where you have an inscription deadline and it is assumed that it's difficult to get one but I know many Spaniards who have been in them or are there. Of course, they might not grant it to you and you'll be coming to look for a house just before. They are nothing out of this world but some are quite good and some even have a room for the gym haha.

I believe I have left some out like Opal, next to the Jubilee Campus... and maybe some more but the truth is Nottingham being a quite a university city, there are many to choose from.
