Blog: Nesna (English version)

What could I say? I had never felt attrakted by that island but, when I realised I was not going to go to Tomma (too much snow, the bad weather, by my own, I don't know the area...) and I saw pictures of moose's on that island I asked myself...Why not?

So last Saturday, at 10:15 in the morning I took the ferry that brings you there in 10 minutes. I was quite affraid, because I just had a picture of a map, but I wasn't quite sure it it was OK or not. Anyways, the island is quite tiny (just 7km long and 4.5km wide) so I convinced myself that it was quite difficult getting lost.

My idea was getting to the centre of the island, next to the mountain (unfortunately, it was quite risky to try getting the 600 metres mountain top by my own with all that snow...) and try to see some mooses, to take the ferry back at 14.00 or at 15:35 ( night comes at about 14 so it made no sense staying there longer).

It was impossible. The path I have seen in the map was nowhere, I could'nt find it. So I started walking along the road. And even if it was not what I expected, it was well-worth it.

Because I proved that I was able to do what I want to, even if it is by my own and if I am scared, as I was.

I didn't see any mooses. I didn't find any paradise over there. But I spent about 4 hours walking on the snow, at about -33degrees Celsius (or that is what my computer said, I promise) and enjoyed it.

Because even if Nesna is even more beautiful than Hugla (or at least that is my point of view), it is allways a great experience to go somewhere you have never been before. And it is also amazing doing it on your own.

Try to do what you feel like doing, go to explore somewhere, enjoy the silence and the wind!
