Because a student from the same course as mine had a good experience in this city earlier.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I am here on an internship for three months. I was given 600 euros to spend for one month from Erasmus+. But this amount was only for accommodation and food (bare necessities of life). More money would be needed to travel and for nightlife :)
What is the student lifestyle like in Newcastle Upon Tyne?
I don't know, because I am in Newcastle for work internship.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne to other students?
Of course. I like this city, full of pubs, clubs, historical buildings and bridges.
What is the food like?
I generally cook for myself. I don't go to school cafeteria or restaurants.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Newcastle Upon Tyne?
No I was living in a friend's house till i found my accommodation.
How much does it cost to live in Newcastle Upon Tyne?
Around 800 euros per month.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?
I had a few problems with my English when I first came here but most other students didn't have any such problems. I have online course OSL from Erasmus+. I didn't attend special courses at my university.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Newcastle Upon Tyne from your city?
The easiest way is by plane from Prague to Newcastle Airport with airline Jet2. Cheapest way is by bus from Prague to London with StudentAgency or Eurolines and then to use Megabus service.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Newcastle Upon Tyne?
The nightlife in Newcastle is very crazy everywhere.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Newcastle Upon Tyne?
No, I didn't visit restaurants. They are very expensive.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Baltic gallery with contemporary art.
Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Newcastle Upon Tyne?
It is a good place to spend Erasmus time.
