Why did you choose to go to Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom?

I did not went to Newcastle for Erasmus but for an internship in a constructioin company. And in fact, I went to Newcastle mainly because the only company which answer me had a building site in the area.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I went here for 2 months and I did not receive any help because I am employed in a French company which pay me.

What is the student lifestyle like in Newcastle Upon Tyne?

For student it is a realy nice place to be. The campus is huge and people comes from every where.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne to other students?

Yes of course, it is the cheaper town in UK and live here as a student is very nice.

What is the food like?

The food is ok. I am a french and I am maybe hard to please but I found restaurant and fast food good. And in supermarket you can find every thing you want.
If you like chicken, you must come here.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Newcastle Upon Tyne?

I find my accommodation on easyroomate.co.uk and that was easy to find what I needed.
I lived in Heaton and I paid £220 per month for a room in a share flat with heating, WiFi, washing machine, fridge, ...

How much does it cost to live in Newcastle Upon Tyne?

It's depend of what you're doing of course, but for a month I approximately spend £600.
The rent £220, taxi/metro: £50, food around £150, pubs (only weekends) £120 and I was climbing too, once a week for £6 + £3 for shoes.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

People speak Geordie here and that is not really easy to understand but it's ok.
I don't know if language courses are available in the University but I think so.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Newcastle Upon Tyne from your city?

I live not really far from Strasbourg in France and I took the plane which is cheaper and faster than the car.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Newcastle Upon Tyne?

There are many place to go out in Newcastle city centre, pubs and nightclubs are really nice.
If you want to try other pubs, go to Le Blanc on Oseborne road or the Chillingham on Chillingham road.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Go to the information centre near the Grey monument. Here they will help you.
But you can visit the city centre, really nice, the Angel of the North, the millenium bridge, Baltic, the Sage, the theatre, Chinatown,Saint Jame's Park, Jesmond Dene, Tynemouth...
