New York City

A place filled with people, lights, and sounds. It's an experience one never forgets. Whether you eat at a great French restaurant, see a Tony-award winning Broadway musical, go for a stroll through Central Park, or visit the world-renowned Times Square, you will leave New York City with a new perspective of city life that you never knew before. With a population of over 8, 000, 000 and five different boroughs that you can visit, there are always new people to meet and places to discover. With this blog, I hope to transform my experiences in New York City into something tangible for Erasmus students hoping to travel one day to one of the greatest cities in the world.

What kinds of things will I post?

I will alternate my blog posts as much as possible between the different categories listed below in order to maximize your knowledge of NYC. There is so much to learn that I will choose some of the best restaurants, areas, museums, monuments, etc for you learn about or hopefully visit one day! And in some posts, I will plan out some ideal itineraries for you, combining quick places for lunch, followed by a museum tour and shopping, with a nice dinner to end the day!

Restaurants

There are hundreds of places that you can choose to eat in NYC, from Italian to French and pizzerias to BBQ. It's hard to know what's good and what's not. I will post reviews of the best food I've eaten from a variety of different cuisines all over the city. If you want to know more about one of the places I review or want me to review another cuisine, just post a comment and I'll assist you!

Nightlife

Not only does New York have a vibrant community during the day, but also a very dynamic nightlife. With bars, pubs, or clubs on every street, I'll help you find the best places to spend your evening, night, and if you're a party animal, early morning.

Monuments

One of the greatest parts of NYC are the buildings and architecture. Some include the Empire State Building, the Lincoln Center, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center, and the Times Square Tower. If you are planning a visit to New York City, these buildings are a must-see. There are even observation decks on the 86th and 102nd floors of the Empire State Building which will provide you with breath-taking 360-degree views of New York City. The perfect picture to take back home!

Broadway Shows

One of my greatest passions in New York City is theater. It is a vibrant subculture within New York City with such diverse and impressive talent. I have been to see more shows than I can count and will be reviewing some of the current (and past) shows that are on or off-Broadway. This will include: Wicked, Jersey Boys, Memphis, Rent, Mary Poppins, Chicago, Mamma Mia! , and many more! And if you don't like musicals, there are also many award-winning plays that you can see during your visit as well.

Museums

There are several great museums in New York City that shouldn't be missed. Most are near Central Park, so the perfect day would be two or three museums and, after, a walk plus lunch through the park. There is the Museum of Natural History, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, among many others.

Shopping

Chances are, if you're in New York City, you'll want to do a little shopping on 5th Avenue or in SoHo. In this category, I will post the best areas of New York City to go shopping and what kinds of stores you will find there.

If there's anything else you would like to learn about in New York City, don't hesitate to comment on this article with your questions. Based on my experiences, I will see if I can answer them or direct you to someone who can. Thanks for following and I hope to hear from you all soon!
