Beautiful mountain landscape

If you like the outdoors, New Paltz is perfect. The mountains are very close to the town and university. You can go rock climbing and hiking or go on easier walking trails. The town has several historic sites, but the most beautiful piece of architecture is the Mohonk Mountain House. If you stay at New Paltz, I suggest you try to make the hike there. Also, if you take the bus, you can get to the nearest American mall in half an hour and to NYC in a little over an hour. Many of the international students stay in the city on the weekends. The town is a 15 minute walk from the campus and has a major super market and a small market street with local stores. The food in town can be pretty good, but the food at the college is only good in a few places. Just like any other college, there are plenty of opportunities to party. Because of the college, there is a decent number of internationals and the college is very liberal.
