What is it like to live in New Delhi? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

A very vibrant city and a mini India as you will find people from different states of the country and also of different nationalities.

What is the student lifestyle like in New Delhi?

Very active

How much does it cost to live in New Delhi?

Depends on the lifestyle..you can live a decent student life in 300 to 400 USD per month.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in New Delhi? Is there any advice you can give?

Not difficult but it is very important to see the area in which you hire an accomodation and don’t go by internet pictures..it can be very deceptive

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

India is a treat for food lovers and you will get cuisine of the world in Delhi. My favourite food is Rajma- chawal ..a dish made of red beans in a tomato gravy and rice. Indian food is spicy and oily so if you are not used to spices..be sure to mention when you order your food

What places would you recommend visiting in New Delhi?

Take a walking tour of the streets of old Delhi including a food trail besides visiting the monuments like Kuruvilla Minar, red fort etc and plan a day trip to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal and Agra fort.

Is it good to eat out in New Delhi? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

In ‘Delhi haat’ you can try the different foods of India. India has 27 states and each state has a different kind of food and language. Do try ‘samosa’ ‘idli sambhar’ , ‘dosa’ ..

Is the nightlife good in New Delhi? Where is good to go?

Oh yes but please be in company of friends as Delhi is not always very safe unlike Mumbai or Pune in India. Aero city is the new and happening place with many pubs. Cyberhub is also very vibrant.

What advice would you give future students heading to New Delhi?

Make friends and you can generally trust people in India. They will go all out to help the foreigners BUT be cautious of strangers.
