Let’s add some vitamin C to our blog?

When coming to Campania, be ready for wealth of lemons in every cornet, from light green to bright golden tone color. This is because the most famous world lemon plantations are situated exactly in Amalfi and Sorrento costs. We should not forget also about Sicilian lemons (to my opinion, Sicily is the only region which can compete with Campania about the food quality and richness). Herein, every type can be used in its own way, for instance, to prepare the liquors, desserts and other meals. Let’s try to clarify it!

Variety of lemons in Campania

Lemons “Four seasons” – lemon variety with elongated leaves, rather stable to cold climate, bear temperatures up to -5 degrees below zero (it’s hard to catch such frozeb weather in Neapolitan suburbs). In colder climate blossoming alomost stops and the fruit growing is almost impossible.

Lemons of Sorrento – this variety has the honorary status of IGP quality owner (Indicazione Geografica Protetta). Such lemons are famous for its acidity, but the twist is rich by the volatile oils, so they are perfect for limoncello preparation!

Zagara Bianca lemons, they are also known as Sicilian lemons. They are glorious by their juiciness and have a great reputation all around Italy and neighbor countries.

Amalfi lemons – in spite of their closeness to Sorrento, these lemons are totally different by taste. They are much sweeter, the only similarity is the IGP owning.

Lunario lemons (moon lemons)– such sophisticated name these varieties received for one interesting observation: lemons start to bloom in full moon!

Verna lemons– have a high popularity in both Italy and Spain, they bloom sustainably in summer period (by the way, “Verano@ in Spanish language means summer, that’s why this type has such name).

To finish todays topic, I would like to mention one Italian wisdom: "Se la vita ti dà limoni, fatti una bella limonata". When life gives you lemonsmake lemonade!
