What is it like to live in Morelia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Live in Morelia it's for me the perfect combination of the environment of an small city with the facilities of a big city. One can have a really nice experience living in there, there are a lot of cultural events, bars with craft beer and life music, and good restaurants. The city has one of the most preserved and beautiful downtowns in all México. Besides, there are several magic towns to visit in the nearby.

What is the student lifestyle like in Morelia?

The students life might vary depending on the university. However, at the end, one can meet people from all the universities since, as I say before, Morelia has the environment of an small city. All the students know people from all the universities and faculties. Therefore, it is possible to make friends easily.

How much does it cost to live in Morelia?

Morelia is one of the cheapest cities in México. The rent of an apartment might cost even 160 euros plus services. Buying in the local markets it's also a good way to safe money and get fresh products.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is varied. You might find fancy restaurants with elegant mexican dishes, or a "taqueria" on the street, or simple locals where you can get "fritanga (enchiladas, sopes, fried tacos)", or go to the market and try the "tamales" and by a fresh juice. There is not limit to have a good meal in Morelia, everything depends on your mode.

What places would you recommend visiting in Morelia?

The Cathedral, "Casa de la Cultura", "Palacio Clavijero", "Casa de Gobierno", the garden of "Las Rosas", the hill of Santa María, the Zoo, the Public Library,the garden of Morelos, "el Callejón del Romance", "La calzada de San Diego", the natural area of "Los Filtros Viejos", the market of San Juan, and many other places in down town that you can find just by walking.

Is it good to eat out in Morelia? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes it is!! San Miguelito, La Lupita, Virrey de Mendoza and la Terraza are some fancy restaurants.
El Chololoy, gaspachos del Boulevard, Tortas Pazcuaro, Hamburguesas Rio 51, Catux are some restaurants with more street food style.
J.Campos, el Infierno, el Güero are some taquerías.

Is the nightlife good in Morelia? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is quiet but very nice.
It's possible to find several places with live music like Porter British Pub, Cactux, Salón Purpura, Barrio.
Also to have a nice time with friends, one can go to Plaza Modelo or Mercado San Lucas.

What advice would you give future students heading to Morelia?

Have fun. Learn about the way the transportation works because it is quite special, and use the expressions that people in there use, that might help you. Be careful, Morelia is a developing country and even when you can feel comfortable it isn't always secure, there are several zones one shouldn't go. Always walk watching at your back and don't trust in everyone at the street.
