What is it like to live in Minsk? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

The city is very clean and full of light. There are a lot of parks and free spaces. Moreover, the streets are wide, unlike in Western Europe.

How much does it cost to live in Minsk?

Rents can be costly, but not as costly as in Western European cities. Groceries are quite cheap. Only the clothes can cost a lot, better go to Poland for that.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Minsk? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not so difficult for Russian-speakers, but it is harder for everybody else. Try to find people online who can help you or search for dorms; I guess they must provide places for students.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is not so exquisite but very delicious. Try "draniki" (potato pancakes) and "holodnik" (cold soup) in summer or "borsch" in winter.

  • Nemiga
  • La Plaza de Octubre
  • El Parque de Atracciones Dreamland
  • La Plaza de la Independencia.

Don't know much about this, but I guess it is not so good. The clubs are expensive.

What advice would you give future students heading to Minsk?

Don't be afraid: it's a great city. At first, some things may be confusing, but once you know its people and the city itself, you'll love it. Try to learn a little bit of Russian as well, since very few people speak English here.
