What is it like to live in Marseille? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I would definitely recommend Marseille. This city is so open to a lot of things! People are open and they will try to help you even if they don't speak your language. They have a lot of great place to take a drink, enjoy yourself, eat, admire the sea and other things. They have a lot of students too and you won't be alone in the night.

What is the student lifestyle like in Marseille?

All students go out on Wednesday night or Tuesday night, depends on your school or their schedule. On Saturday night they have of course some clubs who are open but students prefer to go and take a drink with friends.

How much does it cost to live in Marseille?

It is really cheaper than Paris of course. I would say an apartment would cost around 400€ without the bills but you can find some flat mate and have a nice apartment for 350€ with bills and taxes included!

The price is really different from a district to another. It depends of where you are.

You can ask on the different Facebook group of the school, they have good advices or plans, you can try to find on the internet but the best advice I can give is to ask to another students.

Is it good to eat out in Marseille? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

They have a lot of good places to eat in Marseille, my favorite place is the restaurant 'Vapiano', Italian food and it has a good atmosphere, good food, and where you are with nice people you have all condition to have a good moment. I love to eat Japanese food so I often order to sushi shop but they have many shops in Marseille where you can eat if you want.

Is the nightlife good in Marseille? Where is good to go?

It's good to go to the student parties! And they have twice per year a big student party with around 3000 students from all the school. The party is call 'Assom' and you SHOULD DO IT! You see a lot of student who are in medicine, economics, law etc that's you wouldn't see them if it was a party from your school. That's maybe the party where you will find the person of your life.

    Hi Alexia!
Where did you get your accommodation in Marseille? I am coming as an exchange student there in the fall and trying to find me a place to live. I found some rooms listed here but not sure yet. Do you have some recommendations concerning some specific areas etc. ? :)
