Diary: Week 1

Alright, after two post in a row of tips about Marseille, it is now time to talk about how things are going for me personally. Let's go:

The 13th of September my friend Maria and I arrived in Marseille, at the MP2 airport (which we already talked about in another post), and we went to our hostel, where we had reservations. We had been advised that in France, they only speak French, and that no one was going to make much effort to understand us. However, we met super nice people that helped us, and had patience with our (presently) sad French.

The two following days we were running around the city, looking for a flat or private residences in the city centre, while at the same time going to the school to sort out some paperwork. The weather was nice, sunny and hot, except for the day we decided to go to the calanques, which are coves that I'll talk about in a future post. On that day is was cloudy and raining all day (we were lucky).

By the fourth day of the trip we finally found a private residence to stay the whole course. But we had already reserved and paid for 7 nights at the hostel, so we stayed there (yes, breakfast included was very tempting).

The residence is very good; it's not really a proper residence, so to speak, but more of a refurbished hotel that is rented out for students. The house entrances are in a hallway, with carpeting and everything.

And, well, as you might have noticed, I haven't spoken about classes. Evidently, we will not go there until the second week, when I will write another post. We'll continue to keep you informed!
