Nerja - a small city located near Malaga that has so much to offer
Nerja - a city located near Malaga
There was a time during my Erasmus experience when I thought I have seen everything that I should in Malaga (no, I haven't) and I thought about checking all cities that are located near.
One of the places I have heard was Nerja - someone told me that if I want to eat really good paella I should go to Nerja. And that is how my story started. I checked out where this city is and how to get there, I talked with my Erasmus friends and we decided to see if this city is really as beautiful as everyone says.
How to get there?
Getting to Nerja from Malaga is really simple and cheap. There is a bus which is stopping at Main Bus Station (that is located near Train Station) which is going directly to Nerja. You don't even have to buy tickets in adavce for this trip, just show up couple of minutes before the bus leaves to buy a ticket.
The city of Nerja
Nerja, just like as Malaga, is located near the beach and mountains which makes the views in the city breathtaking. There are couple of small beaches, each one of them is worth seeing. You can check out on the pictures below the view on the city.
Famous Paella
If you ask anyone where to eat paella in Malaga, they will tell you - go to Nerja. The thing about Nerja's paella is probably the way it is made. The restaurant is called Chiringuito Ayo and it is being run by an elder man who is preparing the paella on his own on huge frying pan near the tables - just so everyone can see. You pay once and you can eat as much as you want (though I assure you, you eat once full plate and you're full). The place, that is located just by the sea and beach, is really big but is always full of people.
The caves of the Nerja
There are two things everyone is mentioning when you start conversation about this city. One of them is the famous paella as I have already mentioned and the other one is Caves of Nerja (Cueva de Nerja). They aren't located in the centre of the city but the bus can take you directly to them as well. The caves are enormous and are one of Spain's best trourists atractions.
You can check out more photos of Nerja below.
