Maria Jose's experience of Málaga, Spain
What do you think of living in Málaga? Do you recommend it? What's it like?
The weather is fantastic; it's practically spring all year round, apart from summer when it's much hotter. But then you can always go to the beach.
There are loads of places where you can eat, from very reasonably priced to more expensive; you just have to find what suits you best. The centre is very lively, from Thursday night onward the city begins to fill up with people of all ages, not just students, going for tapas in the center of town.
With regard to exercise, we have a fantastic promenade to run or cycle along the seashore. We also have the Sierra de las Nieves where you can hike; if you make time to visit it, you won't regret it.
If it's culture that interests you, the Alcazaba and the Roman Theatre are both very pretty, and Ronda is spectacular. You can also take a day trip to the beautiful Granada, which is only two hours away. As well as that, Málaga has a great student scene, with tapas and beers for two euros.
And finally, the best thing about Málaga are the people. They are the type that, if asked for directions, might accompany you o make sure you don't get lost on your way.
What's the student scene like in Málaga?
Really good, especially if you want to enjoy yourself at the weekend.
How expensive is Málaga to live in?
Normally it's pretty average. There are places to eat to suit every wallet, but rent is over 200 euros per month for a room. If you find anything cheaper take a good look at it, because it might be an old flat, or not in a very good area.
What places would you recommend for a night out in Málaga?
The centre.
