Why did you choose to go to Málaga, Spain?
Because I like Spain, the food, the weather, and to improve my Spanish and my English
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I was here for 6 months and I received 2500€.
What is the student lifestyle like in Málaga?
There are a lot office parties all along the week. We eat later than in Belgium.
The contacts between Erasmus are really frequent because there are a lot of Erasmus in Málaga
Would you recommend the city and the University of Málaga to other students?
I really recommend the city for an Erasmus. Indeed, living here nice and safe.
What is the food like?
There are a lot of places to eat tapas in the center of the city. It's really cheap and tasty.
We could also find the same products than in Belgium in supermarket like Carrefour.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Málaga?
I decided to go in Erasmus very late (around the 10th september). I lived during 1 week in a hostel and I finally found an accommodation.
How much does it cost to live in Málaga?
I pay 310€/months in a big house with 5 others students, at 10 minutes drop the center and 5 from the university
Others people pay also between 250€ and 350€/months
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
When I arrived in Málaga, I only had the basis in Spanish but I have the chance to live with people really and who speak spanish and english.
After 2 months, I can speak Spanish without problems.
Every week, there is a free course of Spanish for Erasmus students.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Málaga from your city?
Plane.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Málaga?
All of the nightlife is closer of the center.
In 10 minutes, you can go to the biggest discotechs of Málaga (Velvet, Sala Gold, Theatro,... ).
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Málaga?
I didn't eat in restaurants.
When I ate outside, it was Tapas in the different bar Plaza de la Merced.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
In Málaga, the Gibralfaro and Alcazaba offer the best view of the city.
There are a lot of beautiful cities auround Málaga to visit: Séville, Grenade, Cordoue, Nerja, Ronda, Antequera,...
ESN organize trips in all of these different places.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Málaga in the future?
Just live it!
We can't explain, you just has to live it and it's impossible to regret after.
