What’s the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

INCREDIBLE. You will find students wherever you go, in parks, bars, clubs, in the centre. You will never be bored.

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

It depends on whereabouts you live. In the centre of the city, it is always a bit more expensive whereas the outskirts are cheaper. But there is lots of student accommodations, halls of residence and student flats; especially by “Ciudad Universitaria” where most of the universities are.

Was it difficult for you to find accommodation? Do you have any advice?

I actually live in Madrid, but I have lots of friends that came to study here and they didn’t find it difficult to find accommodation. There is lots of student accommodation which always have availability. In my opinion, this is the best option for those who don’t yet know anyone in the city.

What’s the country’s food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Madrid is full of tapas bars where you can go and have a few beers with thousands of different types of tapas.

I also recommend the calamari sandwiches in Plaza Mayor.

Given that it’s the capital city you will find a wide range of foods and restaurants.

What places do you recommend visiting in Madrid?

The centre and Gran Vía, which is very busy but worth it for its beauty. It is full of shops and spectacular architecture.

The Temple of Debod, Retiro Park, the Bernabeu stadium, “El Rastro” (a flea market that’s on every Sunday), and Plaza Mayor.

Casa de campo (large public park) and the mountain ranges surrounding Madrid, particularly “la Pedriza” which is one of my favourites as it has natural pools created by the river.
