Mola Hostel
From Friday 21st October to Sunday 23rd I went to the beautiful capital city, Madrid. However, before arriving in Madrid we stopped off in the beautiful town of Toledo. This is a very rural town where you can zip line from one building to the next (literally! ) as the town is quite small and easy to walk around. There were plenty of tourist shops and restaurants. The best way to see the town is to drive to the peak of the town then make your way back down on foot, as you will pass many interesting places to take pictures and eat food.
After Toledo we continued our journey to Madrid. I went with a massive group of ESN students from Alicante and we stayed in Mola hostel. This hostel was not your everyday, run of the mill, cheap building hostel. This hostel was absolutely fantastic. From its modern games room downstairs to the swipe key cards to gain entrance, this hostel was a 10 out of 10!
The same day that we arrived we had a mini tour of the city centre. We walked through the back streets of the city where we saw loads of fantastic restaurants with gorgeous cuisine, before arriving in the Plaza de Mayor. This huge Plaza is perfect for taking pictures, eating traditional spanish food or even a stroll through as there are many entertainers who occupy the square. Including the infamous grown up Spiderman, who runs around comically to make people laugh and take pictures with them.
For the evening entertainment we were driven by coach for about 20-25 mins to this massive dancehall where music was booming from the speakers. The theme was beach wear so on arrival each student was greeted with a flower necklace. The night was amazing but the transport was a let down, because we had arrived by coach we had to stay and wait to travel back with everyone, so if you were tired at 2am you still had to wait another 2 hours until the coaches started up.
The venue for the second evening of entertainment was perfect and the theme was a paint party! We all walked there as a group and it took about 15-20 mins to get to the club. The club was massive and the drinks weren't too expensive. However, on this particular night there was an artist who was scheduled to play from 12am till 3am then the paint would start. This particular artist played only techno for 3 and a half hours. If techno is not your favourite music then you can understand how boring it was. I was told that the paint party was great as I did not stay till the end to find out. However, 10 out of 10 for the venue.
The journey back to Alicante was a quiet one as everyone was exhausted from the previous night's antics.
