What is it like to live in Madrid? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Madrid is a universal city in every aspect. If you like to have a relaxed afternoon taking some coffee or going around the numerous monuments or parks that we have or maybe you wanna party hard all the weekend. Madrid is your city. There's culture everywhere, shopping, food... anything you wanted in a single place.

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

Well, it is a fantastic experience. All the student areas are in the centre of the city. We have cheap bars, supermarkets, shops and it's pretty easy to find a place to stay.

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

Well, it isn't the cheapest city in Europe, but is far away from the abusive prices of London, Paris, Berlin... Also if you want to know where to go, eat and stay for a cheap way, just ask the local students. We're broke too.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Madrid? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not difficult at all. The local universities have accommodation for local and exchange students. But if you want a more independent experience you always can search for a shared flat with another students, just looking at the advertising boards in your university or in internet. Important note: Go visit the flat before pay or give any money.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

We have everything. Our local cuisine it's appreciated around the world. You have to try the tapas, the cocido madrileño, the potato omelette... but please, just go outside of the city centre ( because is expensive even for locals). Also we have all of the corporative restaurants all over the city if you're looking for something familiar, quickly and easy.

What places would you recommend visiting in Madrid?

Well, we have museums like El Prado with art like Velázquez, Bosco, Goya... We have monuments everywhere; the royal palace, plaza de España, Cibeles, etc. And then you can have a walk around La Latina (international food and tapas), Malasaña ( Bar, Pubs and independent and vintage shops), Chueca ( Bar, LGTB+ scene), Huertas (bar Castizo and pubs), Tribunal ( Indie and Rock pubs).

Is it good to eat out in Madrid? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

The best spots to have a bite are Malasaña, La Latina and Tribunal. I really like the restaurants at Calle del Pez near Tribunal. It's a mixture of styles, cultures and backgrounds.

Is the nightlife good in Madrid? Where is good to go?

Yeah, even if you like popular music, electro, rock, indie there's always a place to go. Of course, some areas are more expensive than others but you'll find that with experience.

What advice would you give future students heading to Madrid?

Be prepared for the Spanish behaviour. We're easy going in a lot of aspects and for sure is easy to make friends with the local people even if we don't speak your language. Look after your money and know where to spend it. Also get the transport card, if a really important thing.
