Madrid, a way of life
For Spain, Madrid represents the hustle and bustle of a big city. In it, the customs and tradition are entwined with modernity and fun.
Madrid is a city that I visit regularly, and this is primarily due to it being a perfect place to go shopping. But this isn't its only appeal, as it's also a good place to see tourist attractions. In addition, the range of leisure activities is so wide that you will be able to find millions of things to do.
My favourite place is probably the Retiro Park. This enormous park is ideal to take a break and relax a bit. It has a lake in which you can go for a boat ride enjoying the spectacular landscape.
But there are lots of other places that are worthwhile visiting, like the Royal Palace of Madrid and the numerous museums in the city. I recommend the Prado Museum as I think it is spectacular, but there are ones for every taste; and provided that it is possible, you have to visit more than one.
Another important place in Madrid is the Temple of Debod, this Egyptian monument has a big beauty and it is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset in the city.
On the other hand, I also recommend the attraction park in Madrid. And if you would like to see the city from high-up, the cable car could be an interesting option.
Transport isn't a problem in Madrid. The metro is used a lot and also goes to the airport.
In terms of prices, we have to know that the capital is more expensive than other Spanish cities, but even so, it isn't amongst the most expensive cities in Europe and we can find good spots to get something to eat if we don't have a big budget.
Madrid can be one of the perfect places to enjoy the delicious Spanish cuisine, as we will find lots of good-quality options. It is very traditional, in the bars in the city centre, to eat a calamari sandwich.
If the city of Madrid interests you in terms of living there or spending a long time there, you have to know that people have different opinions about it. If you like big cities and you can get used to them easily, this is the place for you, and without a doubt, you will find a hundred ideas and options to have a good time. On the other hand, some people need more calm, and who feel overwhelmed after spending just a couple of hours in the centre.
