Why did you choose to go to Madrid, España?

Mostly because of the climate, metropoli status and the language.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

9 months. 470€/month + Erasmus scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

Relaxed and free.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Madrid to other students?

I would. But it is necessary to do 9 months. One semester is too short.

What is the food like?

It correlates with the price. But generally the food is not great.

How did you find your accommodation?

First through a agency, then with a help of friends and for the last months from a web advertisement.

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

In a shared flat the rent prices are low. The costs of living in general are lower than in my own city.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Language is easy to get grips with, but it needs a lot of work. Courses are available in the University.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Madrid from your city?

By flying.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Madrid?

Depends on the time of the year and mood. There are so many possibilities, that there is always something for everybody.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Madrid?

The tapas culture is strong in Madrid. There are so many good places that it is hard to recommend one. But generally the prices are always the most high close to touristic places. So walking few blocks further can be a good choice.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There are a lot of museums. But also interesting sites and pieces of history in the city center. I recommend taking a guided tour in the city to learn more.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Madrid in the future?

Madrid is a great city. The location is ideal for travelling so if you want to see different parts of Spain and Portugal, Madrid is your choice. There are a lot of events in the city, so I recommend that you find out about them before hand.
