What is it like to live in Madrid? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Madrid is a great city in which there is a lot of mixture of cultures. It is a city ready to meet any need that a person may have. The food is very good, and the people are very open, sociable and cheerful.

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

Madrid is very well communicated, as far as transport is concerned. The metro is a good way to get around the city.

It also has many libraries to study, and many local festivals, to have fun and enjoy with friends.

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

A room can cost around 200 euros, plus what may be personal expenses. A good option would be the coexistence with roommates to help with expenses. Renting an apartment can cost around 600-700 euros.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Madrid? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes, it can be complicated. Like anywhere, you have to start with the web pages of people who rent rooms, flats, houses...

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Madrid like almost all the big cities, it has many restaurants of fast food, many supermarkets with good prices...

Spanish dishes are usually heavy but delicious meals.

"Los 100 montaditos"... perfect place, very cheap and satisfactory.

Is the nightlife good in Madrid? Where is good to go?

  • "Huertas" Probably the best known and liveliest area of Madrid. The streets with more atmosphere are the Huertas street itself and the parallel ones. It is very close to the Puerta del Sol.
  • "Malasaña" A place in the center of the city with a lot of rhythm.
  • "Chueca" It is a small neighborhood very cosmopolitan and fun. Life revolves around the Plaza de Chueca, where there are lots of terraces of bars and cafes.

What advice would you give future students heading to Madrid?

Madrid is a very fun city, enjoy it!
