Experience in Madrid, Spain by car
What is it like to live in Madrid? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Madrid is fantastic, you just need to ask to someone who has been here before, it is a perfect balance between study, work, fun and weather. Not too big, not too small transportation is excellent 24hrs a day, but you can walk to anywhere anytime without problems.
What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?
whatever you can imagine from bright to dark from relaxing to extreme party, you set want you want and you will have it. Multicultural and diversity are key in this city.
How much does it cost to live in Madrid?
You can share a flat from 400 euros if you want to be comfortable and share with just 1 person, but if you want to save money you can rent a room with many people for less bucks. Food/transportation is cheap. Weather helps you to practice sports outdoors if you look for a place near the river or casa de campo!
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Madrid? Is there any advice you can give?
Well I may tell that this is an area to improve in Madrid, Offers: a lot! but quality is different, Flats here are quite old if you want to live in the center and in a lot of them is difficult to see the sun from your room. Some big flats have been divided in many rooms so sharing with a lot of people can be an ''experience'' if you don't manage to share the fridge, bathroom or cleaning, that's why I moved to share in a flat with 1 person, it costs a little bit more but is like living in your home. I have learnt that a house is not only the price but the area, the flat, and the mates, check this 3 things and avoid flatting: moving every month to a new flat :(
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
excellent! anything from spain is great, don't forget to try jamón ibérico, olive oil or good wine!
What places would you recommend visiting in Madrid?
el retiro, casa de campo, templo debod, madrid river, chueca, la latina, malasaña, bernabeu, museos el prado, reina sofia, thyssen and don't forget la sierra and the outdoors of madrid is another world!
Is it good to eat out in Madrid? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
yes, 24hrs/day. I prefer local bars with real spanish food, there are hundreds of them!
Is the nightlife good in Madrid? Where is good to go?
Depends on what you want, from vanilla to hard places fun is everywhere and be prepared to return back home as early as 8-9am :D
What advice would you give future students headed to Madrid?
Balance fun with your studies, Madrid is fun but you can improve your career here too. If you are coming to copy your life in your country but in Madrid, you are wasting the best. Swim out of gettos and deal with locals, try new things, try different food, nobody knows you, nobody judges you so you can be the real you, that will make your stay memorable!
