What is it like to live in Madrid? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Madrid can be great, if you like a big city full of life and people always in the streets, but a bit stressful for someone who likes to relax.

I personally recommend it for sure; You have plenty of daylife and nightlife as well. There's also a lot of culture to see, museums, parks, visiting the center of the city... Public transport is great and taking the subway is for sure the best choice.

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

The students lifestyle is probably one of the best in the world. You have from streets full of pubs and bars where you can just chill, have some drinks and have a nice talk with your friends, to huge discos where you can dance until 6 am.

There is also plenty of malls with cinemas, bowling centers, shops to buy clothes or presents... almost everything!

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

Madrid is not expensive, but I wouldn't consider it cheap. I'll say just normal. Similar to places such as Portugal or Holland, but cheaper than Britain or France.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Madrid? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not difficult to find a place to stay. In Madrid we have the university Campus where you can find plenty of residences. You just have to check the internet and you'll find it easily.

If you prefer a more calm city to stay, have a look at Tripadvisor, they have lots of rooms to rent.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is really good. We have delicious "tapas". My favourite dish is Lentejas!

What places would you recommend visiting in Madrid?

I would recommend to visit the center (Fuencarral, Gran Vía, La puerta del Sol, El Retiro, Juan Carlos II park), museums such as El Prado.

Is the nightlife good in Madrid? Where is good to go?

  • For pubs: Tribunal, Malasaña, Huertas, La Latina.
  • For discos: La Nuit, Kapital, Fabrik, Campus, Nells, Sala Marco Aldany.

What advice would you give future students heading to Madrid?

If you are a student who likes going out and having a good time meeting new people, try to get a place in one of the residences in "Ciudad Universitaria", there are really nice places to live, near to the center. There is an amazing atmosphere and if you like sports you have the opportunity to practice them, cause near the residences there are soccer fields, rugby fields, athletics tracks, tennis, etc.
