Why did you choose to go to Madrid, Spain?

I wanted to experience living in a European capital, and Madrid was the only capital that my university had a link with.

How long does the grant last? How much money do you get for help?

I got 1000 euros for 5 months, and each month my student residence cost 850 euros. But there are more attainable accommodation options.

What's the student environment like in Madrid?

In my opinion there wasn't much of a work ethic, the universities are enormous which doesn't help. The Spanish students helped me a lot with my work and my notes.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Madrid to other students?

I would definitely recommend Madrid, I want to go back and live there! The University is very demanding and doesn't make much of a distinction between Erasmus and Spanish students, you need to know Spanish really well.

How easily did you find accommodation in Madrid?

I researched accommodation on the Internet and then I went there with my parents to choose.

On average, how much did you spend living in Madrid?

I spent 4260 euros in the residence, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. On extras I spent around 2000 euros.

What's the language like? Did you attend a language course at the university?

It's really easy to learn, I went to Madrid without having learnt any Spanish and I managed to adapt.

What is the cheapest way to get to Madrid from your city?

Plane.

Where would you recommend for a night out in Madrid?

"Kapital" is definitely the best club in Madrid. I also like "Joy" and "Independance" on Mondays.

And eating out in Madrid? Can you name your favourite places?

100 montaditos.

And in terms of cultural visits?

I've seen almost everything, Madrid is incredible.

Do you have any advice you'd like to give future students in Madrid?

If you want to do an Erasmus exchange in a big city Madrid is an excellent choice!
