Why did you choose to go to Madrid, Spain?

I chose to study in Madrid, as a part of my degree is Spanish. However, I chose the capital as I currently live and study in the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh, and I was excited to experience a different style of capital city.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I do not have a scholarship. I pay for everything myself.

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

The university which I study at is very intense, so I do not have much free time. However there are lots of student nights out, and cheap bars and tapas bars which are very reasonably priced and delicious.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Madrid to other students?

Yes, of course.

What is the food like?

The food is mainly typical spanish tapas food, however there are a few restaurants which are more generic such as mexican and american.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Madrid?

It did not cost anything to find my accomodation, but it is very expensive.

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

My rent is 520€ a month which is very expensive, and food etc can also be rather expensive depending on where you go to buy it.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

My university does offer language courses which I am enrolled on. However within university almost everybody speaks english and so I only find myself speaking spanish out of university when I am at a shop or bar for example.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Madrid from your city?

Plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Madrid?

I don't enjoy going to clubs.
