Why did you choose to go to Madrid, España?

Because I fell in love with this city the first time I saw it. It was on a weekend break. When I had to choose my Erasmus destination a few months later, I didn't hesitate at all!

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

A lot of friends, tapas, and fiestas! Madrid is also a city of culture, with great museums and exhibitions.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Madrid to other students?

I would recommend Madrid to anyone!

What is the food like?

The food is very good. Madrid is known for its tapas bar, affordable for students!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Madrid?

No, finding a room to rent in Madrid is very easy. I found a place in only two days! You just have to buy a Spanish phone when you get there, and call the landlords. Check the ads on the internet and call them.

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

Depends on your lifestyle... I would say 800€/month as a minimum. 400-500€ for the rent, and the rest for your phone, your food, etc.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is easy, but you won't learn Spanish if you stay all the time with Erasmus people, speaking English. There are courses at the university, but remember: the best way to learn Spanish is to hang out with Spanish friends!

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Madrid from your city?

Plane. Buses as well.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Madrid?

La Latina to have a drink, then Chueca (gay district) to the pubs and clubs.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Museo del Prado, Museo reina sofia, Templo de Debod, Palacio Real....

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Madrid in the future?

Be careful, you could deeply fall in love with this city!
