Why did you choose to go to Madrid, Spain?
To improve on my language for university and to be more familiar with the Spanish culture.
What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?
I wasn't a student - I was working as an au pair and the lifestyle was amazing - there are plenty of bars and discos to be going out at the weekend.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Madrid to other students?
Yes - the city is just so beautiful. I didn't realise how nice the comedy was and how many things there are to do and see.
What is the food like?
The food range is really good and healthy. The Spanish traditions like paella and churros are out of this world!
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Madrid?
No.
How much does it cost to live in Madrid?
From my family, I got €80 per week and I could live off €40 a week so not that expensive.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
As I'm Italian it was easy to get grips with and because I've been studying it at college.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Madrid from your city?
Plane.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Madrid?
I would go into the city and find a disco there - there's plenty to choose from.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Madrid?
Gino's is a lovely Italian restaurant with amazing food.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
There's plenty of museums in Madrid which are really interesting and famous parks. Also the Royal Palace.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Madrid in the future?
I'm not a student myself now but I would encourage you to go to Madrid for the experience - it's incredible. The city, the food, the culture and the weather.
