Why did you choose to go to Madrid, Spain?

I wanted to improve my Spanish language.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I got 400 euro per month from my university which covered approximately 70% of my costs.

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

There are so many parties every night, a lot of young people from all around the world.

What is the food like?

They eat a lot of bread, tortillas, a lot of meat. That was not that bad for me (I'm from the Czech republic), but a lot of my friends from Mexico and South America were complaining that Spanish people don't eat much fruits and vegetables... I can agree with them.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Madrid?

No, I was lucky. But I think it's not that difficult to find an accommodation in Madrid generally.

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

Depends on you, transportation is quite expensive and I think you will not find a cheaper flat then for 250 euros/month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

Spanish is not a difficult language. Yes, there are language courses provided by the university, but you have to pay.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Madrid from your city?

Definitely by "Blablacar" (type of traveling where people share their vehicles, ridesharing). Its very popular in Spain, its so much cheaper then by bus or train, you can meet some new people, etc.

I am a girl, I was traveling alone and I did not have any problems!

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Madrid?

Be careful, if you look like a tourist there is a big probability that you will be robbed. There are pickpockets.
