Why did you choose to go to Madrid, Spain?

Because I could practice my Spanish, the cost of living is cheap and It's a great city for dining and partying.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I lived in Madrid for 5 months while I attended one semester at the university. I received $2, 500 to assist with living expenses.

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

The students are great! There are a lot of international students from all over the world. Very friendly. There is a lot for students to do in the city.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Madrid to other students?

Yes. It is a great place to study and have a great time!

What is the food like?

The food is okay. Not the best. It is very cheap but not of the highest quality.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Madrid?

No. I used various online resources and I had help from previous students.

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

Relatively cheap compared to the rest of Europe. I lived in the city... a few blocks from the Atocha train station and my rent was 420 euros per month. Food and entertainment was relatively inexpensive as well.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is hard to get used to at first. The Spanish in Spain sounds a little bit different from what I learned in the US. The language courses at the university are very helpful.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel around Madrid?

The train and metro.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Madrid?

I would start off by going for some tapas at "El Tigre" with a large group, then heading to a bar in the area, and end the night at Kapital.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Madrid?

Tacos del Pastor, El Tigre, Cien Montaditos.

El Prado Museum and "el Rastro" on Sundays
