Why did you choose to go to Madrid, Spain?

A previous supervisor put me in contact with an institution in Madrid to do an internship.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

6-7 months. I had around 1000€/month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

Very nice. Good food, lots of bars/cervecerías, restaurants and clubs.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Madrid to other students?

I was not working at the university of Madrid. The city, however, I absolutely recommend it!

What is the food like?

Out of this world and cheap! Try bar La Campana at plaza Mayor for lunch!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Madrid?

It's very easy. Uniplaces is nice. But Erasmus also have some student housing options at ErasmusFlat.

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

1000€/months was enough.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

AIL Language School is my recommendation. It is more or less expensive but the teaching is very good!

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Madrid from your city?

Metro! You can get a metro-pass at some of the tobacco shops I think. Mine cost 20 euro/month and allowed unlimited travelling bus/metro and even to some destinations outside Madrid with the train.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Madrid?

Cervecerías at Puerta del Sol. Calle de Espoz y Mina. And the clubs: Moondance, Kapital, Joy, etc.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Madrid?

All of them! But mostly the restaurants at Calle Cava Baja in La Latina.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

More than enough! The museums were nice.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Madrid in the future?

Try the tapas tour. On YouTube you have a variety of videos that show you the best tapas bars that you can visit in a single night!
