What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

After school we normally would walk around, or go to some café. On the weekends, students normally go out every night.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Madrid to other students?

Definitely, yes!

What is the food like?

It's amazing. Wide variety of tapas, paellas, lots of fruits, meat and so on.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Madrid?

No. I found it on Idealista.

How much does it cost to live in Madrid?

Not that cheap. I live like 20 mins away from the centre and for me, it's 310 EUR. For those living closer to the centre, it's not less than 400/month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

For me, the language is easy, for some people not. Yes, we have Spanish courses at school for different levels.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Madrid from your city?

Plane. I flew from Finland. If you have a chance to fly with Norwegian Airlines its the best, because you can have 2 luggages x 20kg each + 10 kg hand luggage. And there is WiFi during the flight.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Madrid?

Oh, there is numerous amount of places.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Madrid?

Well, Mercado de San Miguel is the best place to taste tapas. But when I wanna go to some restaurant I normally use trip advisor app, because there I can read feedbacks, see the prices and location.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There are also so many. Even when you are just walking around everything looks like a masterpiece.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Madrid in the future?

Buy transportation card only for 20 EUR/month (if you are not 26 y. o. yet). It's better to do on Tribunal metro station (find the address of the office on the internet), just bring your ID or passport and picture. In other places, you will have to wait up to 2 weeks.
