How long did you stay in Madrid? How much money did you receive?

I stayed in Madrid for 4 and a half months and I received 250 euros per month.

What can you tell us about the student vibe in Madrid?

It is simply excellent!

Do you recommend Madrid and the university in which you studied to future exchange students?

For sure! Without a doubt!

What's your opinion about Spanish cuisine?

It's very good.

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Madrid?

Yes, it was pretty difficult because there were so many Erasmus students and everyone chose the same thing buy you always end up finding something.

Tell us about the living costs in Madrid

The cost of living in Madrid is very similar to the cost of living in Belgium.

What about learning the language? Did you do any sort of Spanish course organised by the University?

In knowing the grammatical rules and some of the basics of the vocabulary, you won't have any trouble with making yourself understood in Spanish. At first, it's very difficult to follow the lectures at University, but after a month and a half, everything became doable.

I highly recommend taking some Spanish lessons with a personal teacher before moving to Spain. It gives you the confidence to be able to talk when you get there.

Unfortunately I didn't do any Spanish course at the university seeing as it had taken place in September and I didn't arrive until October.

Which is the cheapest way of travelling to Madrid from your home-town?

By plane.

Which places do you recommend for a night out in Madrid?

The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) organises lots of activities, nights out and trips for the Erasmus Students who join the association. . ESN is very useful, especially when you first get there because it helps you meet new people.
