Why did you choose to go to Madrid, Spain?

I am originally from Romania. I chose Spain for my Erasmus scholarship because I've only heard of the spanish hospitality and amazing sightseeing. I chose Madrid because it is the capital of the country and because it's a very dinamic and diverse city.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I was a student at uc3m for a year. I received aprox 350 euros a month

What is the student lifestyle like in Madrid?

It was dificult at first because it was so different from my country but i got used to it in the end. I loved being a student in Madrid, it was fun and exciting

Would you recommend the city and the University of Madrid to other students?

YES, most definitely!

What is the food like?

it is really good but sometimes too greasy for my taste.

How did you find your accommodation?

Through a friend.

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

The accommodation was somewhat expensive compared to my home country. But as far as things in general the prices were fair.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

yes. yes

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Madrid from your city?

By airplane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Madrid?

I'm not a big fan of clubs but "La joyeria" vas really popular among Erasmus students. I would recommend a walk on "Gran Via" and near Palacio Real.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Madrid?

I really can't remember the names unfortunately.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Sol, Gran Via, Palacio Real, Museo Reina Sofia, Almudena, Campo del Moro.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Madrid in the future?

Enjoy your stay, visit as much as you can and also go to other parts of Spain, It,s a wonderfull country.
